Building a chemical-free future for beekeeping
ThermaHive is developing precision-controlled thermotherapy systems to help protect honey bee colonies from Varroa mites and future hive health threats — without residues, resistance, or chemicals.
The problem
Why chemical-free matters
Chemical treatments have played an important role in managing Varroa, but they come with tradeoffs. Residue buildup, resistance development, regulatory uncertainty, and growing consumer expectations all place increasing pressure on chemical-based approaches.

Varroa mites continue to adapt, and new pests and pathogens are likely to follow. A future-ready solution must be flexible, adjustable, and grounded in physical principles rather than chemistry alone.
Being chemical-free also changes the economics for beekeepers: no honey-super removal requirement or harvest waiting period to work around, and no consumable treatment to rebuy every season. ThermaHive is a one-time hardware investment, not a recurring cost.
How we do it
Our approach
ThermaHive combines precision hardware, embedded sensing, and iterative field testing to create a system that beekeepers can trust. Each unit actively monitors internal hive conditions and applies heat and ventilation within defined safety limits.
Data logging allows treatments to be evaluated, compared, and improved. Real-world testing with experienced beekeepers informs every design iteration.
We are intentionally building this platform to evolve. As research advances and new threats emerge, our goal is for ThermaHive to adapt through improved control strategies, firmware updates, and expanded capabilities — rather than forcing beekeepers to start over.
