Built for the Modern Beekeeper
Every feature in V2 was redesigned based on beekeeper feedback: less lifting, less wiring, more hives treated with less effort.

Wireless Temperature & Humidity Sensor
The SHT31-DIS wireless sensor drops right between your frames, no drilling, no modifications to your woodware. The slim body fits the standard 6–9mm bee space and transmits readings every 2 seconds. Connect up to 50 sensors to a single controller for full apiary coverage. The included Hex Saddle frame mount suspends the sensor between frames at the correct depth through inspections. Runs on a standard CR2032 coin cell battery that lasts around 248 days.
One sensor is designated the anchor. It sits at bee space inside the brood nest and holds the treatment setpoint, so the controller regulates to the temperature where the bees and mites actually are, not the air at the edge of the box. The rest monitor and log.
The sensors are also sold on their own and work with BroodMinder products, with every V2 unit, and with existing V1 units after a firmware update. No ThermaHive system required.

Modular Magnetic Heater System
The Heater Insert connects to the Bottom Treatment Frame via a magnetic locking system, with no tools required for installation or removal. One heater moves between multiple hives equipped with Bottom Treatment Frames, keeping per-hive costs down as your operation grows. When the heater isn’t in use, swap in the Blank Insert to convert the frame into a standard screened bottom board for everyday colony management.
Power ThermaHive V2 from the sun. V2 is designed to work with a compatible solar battery, keeping your hive monitor running off-grid, which suits remote apiaries where running power isn’t practical. We publish a full build guide for a setup under $300 in parts: a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery, a 1000 W inverter and a small panel with an MPPT controller, good for roughly one and a half treatments per charge.

Beyond heat treatment, the controller supports a dedicated Ventilation Mode that circulates air through the hive without running a full treatment cycle. Useful for airflow management during hot weather or colony recovery periods between treatments.

Over-the-Air Firmware Updates
Firmware updates are delivered over the controller’s built-in Wi-Fi access point at startup, so there are no USB cables and no disassembly required. Units in the field stay current with the latest treatment protocols and improvements.

Live Monitoring and Full Session Logs
The in-hive wireless sensors report every 2 seconds throughout a session, so you can follow a treatment live through the BroodMinder app rather than standing over the hive. Every session is also written in full to the onboard micro SD card: temperature, humidity, phase, mode, settings and any safety events, all timestamped and opening straight into Excel or Google Sheets.

Four Independent Layers of Overheat Protection
Firmware holds a hard temperature ceiling and cuts the heater the moment a reading crosses it. Invalid or missing sensor data blocks operation rather than defaulting to heat. The heater assembly carries its own factory overheat protection independent of the controller, a 100°C cutout and a 112°C thermal fuse installed by the manufacturer. And a hardware watchdog resets the controller if the processor ever stalls, opening the heater relay as the first action on restart. Every failure mode ends with the heater off.

Two 120 mm Variable-Speed Fans
One fan on the left and one on the right, each centered on its half of the hive. A diffuser board spreads warm air across the full footprint instead of letting it rise in a column, and fan output scales with the gap to setpoint so the system can push through the colony’s own fanning response on the way up without overshooting once it arrives. Even distribution is the hard engineering problem in thermal treatment, and it is most of what we spent 2026 solving.
